This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a talented and organised manager with a strong background in manging frontline high profile services, to deliver day to day management and direction of the parks and opens spaces team. You will be passionate about managing and enhancing your local environment, and meticulous in your attention to the standards in which we present our parks and open spaces.

This post will be for a fixed term contract of two years to assist the Parks and Foreshore Manager in delivering a broad range of services within parks and open spaces.

The team is responsible for management of a wide range of sites including parks, formal gardens, open spaces and nature reserves within the Adur and Worthing area, and you will have the opportunity to make a positive contribution to shape the future management of these important community spaces.

The service area is diverse, including providing a high quality grounds maintenance service to internal and external clients, ensuring our tree stock are safely inspected and works prioritised, as well working with the local community to deliver and enhance the local environment. In line with the corporate platform stewarding our natural resources, we are encouraging wildlife and biodiversity into our parks and green spaces alongside traditional sports and amenity horticulture, and encouraging the local community to engage and help with the management of their local green spaces. You will help deliver this and ensure the team are fully engaged with and motivated with this agenda.

You will work with the Parks and Foreshore Manager to effectively manage and deliver operational management of the services, ensuring high quality horticultural, environmental and safe working standards are maintained throughout operations.

This is a varied and dynamic role, requiring knowledge and experience of a range of areas including performance management in motivating and managing a team, budgetary accountancy, service scheduling, and working with our community volunteers and partners.
