Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Operatives

Salary: £8.35 or £9.37 per hour (Depending on post)

Place of work: Parks & Open Spaces, Cemeteries and Crematorium across Adur & Worthing

Contract: Temporary from 30th April until 28th September 2018

Closing date: 22nd April 2018

We are looking to employ two seasonal employees to supplement the Grounds Maintenance teams looking after the Parks, Open Spaces, Cemeteries, and Crematorium within Adur District and Worthing Borough Councils. The duties include general Grounds Maintenance duties such as grass cutting, maintaining planted areas and strimming.

These are temporary seasonal contracts commencing on 30th April 2018 which will terminate on 28th September 2018.

The post holders will have an interest in gardening and amenity horticultural maintenance in either a domestic or professional capacity and be prepared to work outdoors. They should display a helpful manner/attitude and be able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team. Previous experience in grounds maintenance and operating mowing and other horticultural equipment would be advantageous, although enthusiasm for outdoor work is equally as important and training can be provided. The post holder must be able to follow instructions, have excellent attention to detail and pay attention to Health and Safety regulations.

Preferably the post holders will hold a full current driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points.

One of the posts available is in the Parks and Open Spaces team working 40 hours per week and the other post is in the Cemeteries team working 37 hours per week (the latter post is paid at the higher rate and so it is essential that this post holder holds a full current driving licence.)

Although you will commence work at one of the Councils’ depots or premises each day, you may be required to work across the whole of the District/Borough as part of a mobile work team.
